Survival 101
After you crash, you appear inside the plane; you should gather any materials inside the plane. You should pick up the plane axe off the plane attendant. Once you go outside, there are many suitcases in the wreckage. The items found are food trays, chocolate bars, soda, medicine, booze, and cloth.
You can survey the surroundings around the plane crash and choose a direction you want to walk towards as the island is very big. Plane crashes can be in several different areas around the island. A tip would be is if you can see a tall snowy moutain, this direction would be North. It would be best to head west along the beach. While heading towards the beach, you can collect sticks, rocks, leaves, and look for any sightings like a campsite or settlement. It would be best to head towards the beach as fast as possible and build your camp. To craft something, you can go into your survival book. You should start by checking out the shelters tab and build something small and complete the craft as fast as possible by collecting the required materials which consists of sticks, rocks, logs, and leaves. After completing ths shelter, you can now save your game.
You can now look around your surrounding area around the beach for food like birds, rabbits, and deer. There is also fish and sea turtles. You can craft tools and weapons in your inventory. The center is your blueprint where you can place something in the middle to see what you can craft. Consider crafting a bow or a spear. You can also start crafting storage containers such as the stick, log, rock holders and also a drying rack for your meats and a water collector.
This is basically everything needed for starting out. You can choose to build a base up and start collecting more materials and exploring the surrounding area. Eventually mutants will start appearing so you have to be careful. The island may seem big at first but eventually after exploring for awhile, you can start making out where your location is. You can look for caves in your area and any human sightings.
