Story/Lore
The game starts out with a cutscene with your character, Eric Leblanc who is on a flight with their child, Timmy. While on the flight, it occurs that the plane is hit with major turbulence and the plane crashes. You wake up to your child being taken by some mutant human-like enemy and there is no sign of anybody else. All the other passengers are dead and half of the plane is missing. You only see a vast green forest and water surrounding the remote island. There seems to be a snowy biome North of the island with an enormous mountain. Your objective seems to be to survive and follow the survival book. There is a to-do list inside and it looks like you have to find your son.
With that in mind, it seems like you should work on getting yourself a camp and survive. While exploring, you find many mutant settlements as well as several caves/underground system. While exploring the settlements and the caves, you will acquire tools and notes to help figure out where your son is and what is happening on this island. You will occassionally find some mutants that can be seen as bosses. These are special enemies that are larger than normal humanoid type mutants. You will also eventually find out that you weren't the first to visit this island. There are also many human campsites around and even a yacht along the coast. To explore some areas like some caves, you will need to visit other locations prior to acquire specific tools. Eventually you will reach the end where you finally go into the pit or giant hole in the ground. You go into what seems to be a labatory named Sahara Therapeutics which seems to have experimented and discovered this island and the mutants.
